The Joy of Knitting - http://thejoyofknitting.com - was born in October 2001 from a passion I have always had to be creative, innovative, and challenged while achieving my life-long passion to teach and inspire others with my knitted and crocheted creations. In 2005 I launched a very successful eBay store - http://stores.ebay.ca/The-Joy-of-Knitting?refid=store - dedicated to selling yarn, knitting and crochet needles, books, patterns and cross-stitch kits. On November 28, 2009 I extended The Joy of Knitting by adding an online store - http://www.etsy.com/shop/dylanadesigns - on Etsy.com. I am in the process of populating the Etsy store with my handmade knitted and crocheted items and although tedious I can assure you I will be updating as often as I can.

The hair is in braids while I recover from surgery. I am at home trying to keep sane, so im knitting and crocheting up a storm and im anticipating opening up my etsy store shortly. Here is a collage of some of my stuff:

My hair straightened

So last week after cutting about an inch off my hair, my daughter used the blow dryer and blowed out my hair, then her ceramic iron and straightened. I was so different and I liked it, but I realize I still love my natural curls better. What is nice is that my hair is so versatile and I can do so much with it. Never a boring moment!

My hair is now 4" long.

I am working with this hair the best way I know how. I love it! I have not been able to find a product that I would really like to try as I see that it gets great review from everyone that have used it. Cantu Leave-In Conditioner. Please let me know where in Toronto I can find this product. Does anyone know anything about using Glycerin in the hair?

Hair Styles

I have had so many types of hair/hairstyles. I cannot even remember. These pics go back for the last two years or so. I am happy to say I like my natural hair the most. I live in a very cold country (Canada) this is my first winter with natural hair and I must say I have not found anything to keep my hair shiny all the time. My hair is so dry. I have tried extra virgin olive oil, crisco, coconut hair dressing (really want to try coconut oil). I am still searching for that thing that keep my hair shine in the winter months. So if there is anyone out there that have some things they can suggestg I try for extra dry hair, I would really appreciate it. Lady D

Loving my new hair!

I knew when I started this blog I would not have a lot of time to update. I just wanted to comment on my hair. I am loving it! At this stage my hair is about 3" long when it's blown out. I have tried twists, dry twists, shingling, roller set or just wash and go. The one I prefer is dry twists, my hair look really great after that. I am so glad I decided to go natural. If I knew it would be like this I would have done so a long time ago. Did I happen to mention that I am loving my hair right now and I am so happy when people say omg that's your real hair, I cannot imagine asking someone that questions but I guess because they have never seen my natural hair they are shocked now that I made the big reveal.

Help with Dye

This is how my hair is now. I have done every style imaginable to my hair. Shaved, long, short, medium, natural, relaxed, texturized. I am at a crossroads with colour. The front of my hair is extremely grey and I want to know what type of dye to use that will not damage or dry out my hair too much, help, help, please!
